Sitting in class...

So we got this new assignment to start a blog about blogging. Interesting assignment.. Don't you think? So blogs.. think they are a great way to get a look at how people are thinking. From the blogs I've checked in the past it seems people are quite honest and frank about their thoughts so it seems that people are more willing to get their thoughts down than to speak what they feel. We'll see how this goes!! :)

  1. What are the rules about using blogs in Spotsylvania? Since you are an ITRT, have participated in or presented any staff development opportunities about blogs? If so, what ideas did you learn or present?

  2. Blogs are a great tool to share ideas and thoughts about various subjects. I find that I have received answers to questions that I may not have found otherwise. It has also enabled me to offer solutions based on my experiences. Great sharing and learning tool.

  3. I am one of those people that feels more comfortable with putting thoughts in writing. I like to organize my thoughts and would rather present them in this manner.

But blogs are a great tool to use. I would like to try and use them with my second graders. Do you have any suggestions on what I could do?

  4. Has Spotsy run into any problems/issues with blogging yet? I'm probably going to assign login names as I'm worried that it will become bash the poster if they know who is commenting. Also protects them if they don't feel comfortable with others knowing who is posting. Do your teachers favor one over the other?

  5. From my knowledge, Spotsy doesn't have a whole lot to do with blogging. I do know that many blog sites have been blocked due to content. I am thinking the next thing to look at is a blog server for the county but at this point I cannot say that is a fact. Also there is a blogging feature on SCORE but in the elementary we have not used it much at all. Hopefully this has put more info into the eyes of you all as far as Spotsy is concerned. :)

  7. I agree with you. People do tend to be more open and honest when writing rather than speaking. I know I never say what I want but in the blackboard classes I usually do "say" what I want since it is easier to write it than say it to someone's face.
